Parish History

The congregation of St Mary’s Macedonian American Orthodox Church is the first Macedonian church in the Columbus, Ohio area, established in 1965. For more than 40 years, the church has made significant contributions in the community through the teachings of Orthodox Christianity as well as providing invaluable services like performing wedding ceremonies, christenings and memorial services. We at St. Mary’s Church invite everyone to support us in our effort to maintain our traditions for the future by building the first Macedonian Cathedral in the central Ohio area.

There are many projects, too numerous to mention, which are planned for the future. The faithful are a constant witness of what Orthodox can be, not only in a small community, but also in any community. The faithful know that God’s prayers and blessings on St. Mary’s will continue to be able to make a significant contribution to the health and welfare of its community, and at the same time fulfill the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in helping those who are in need of help while growing spiritually by this effort. Currently there are over 300 families who are members of the parish, which translates into a parish of over 1,000 people.
